Video Transcript

On some evenings your trekking lodge may host local villagers performing traditional Nepali dances.
But be warned, as a guest you may be asked to join.
The show can go late in to the night. The people in the mountains love singing and its not uncommon for guides or porters to sing during the day as you trek through the mountains.

Chomrong is the last village before the Annapurna Sanctuary. The approach to Chomrong is one of the hardest on the trek, and from this point you really feel as if you are deep in the monitions.

Mountain views become clearer and the ridges more distinct. The terrain is constantly changing as you pass waterfalls, rivers and forested areas.
At a trekking village called Himalaya you are so deep in the gorge that the sun doesn't rise above the peaks until about 10 in the morning.
The trekking route begins to pass around the side of Machapuchare.
As you go above the tree line the landscape becomes barren.
You do meet obstacles on the path but in general the trekking routes are well worn and quite safe.

The last lodge town before Annapurna is Machapuchare base camp at 3700M.
The views of Machapuchare are spectacular, the only mountain in Nepal that is completely off limits to climbers.

As you trek up the last stretch Machapuchare is to your rear. The final the incline is quite gradual, but as you are at altitude every step feel that little bit more challenging.

The weather can be harsh and windy, you can literally see the jet streams hit the top of Machapuchare.

Then at last, you reach your final destination. Annapurna Base Camp.
