The trek to Annapurna base camp usually begins in one of several locations in the foothills about 30 minutes drive from Pokhara.

The trekking route quickly takes you in to the mountains and village ares.

It's not long before you get your First glimpses of the mountains. And soon the the entire Annapurna range. The most prominent peak in the range, the twin peaks of Machapuchare, also known as Fish tail. A mountain sacred to Hindu god Shiva and revered by Nepali people.

The lodge towns you pass as you trek are picturesque and abundant with Flowers and wildlife. Everything appears post card perfect.

As you trek deeper in to the mountains the up hill walking is a great challenge and incredible exercise.

The terraced hills seem to rise up for miles.
As you pass fellow trekkers and locals the standard greeting is "Namaste", The Nepali word for Hello.

Trekking through local villages you get to see the day to day way of life of local people.

And as you settle in to your trekking lodge at night, enjoy spectacular sunsets over Himalayan landscapes, And prepare for your next days trekking.
