When arriving at Annapurna base camp in the afternoon the mountains are often covered by clouds, most trekkers choose spend the night in a lodge at base camp to witness the morning sunrise.

The best time to view the range is from 5 am in the morning. In the mornings the clouds have usually cleared, the skies are blue and the views spectacular.

At base camp you are standing in the heart of the Annapurna range and have perfect views of every peak.

The 7219 meter peak of Annapurna South.
The 6993 meter of peak of fish tail, which no one has ever summited.
There are over 6 peaks in the Annapurna range that top 7200M.
From a ridge just past base camp you can see the glacial trough at the foot of the mountains.

Most trekkers spend a few hours exploring base camp and the surrounding scenery.
Amongst all the mountain beauty, a darker side to Annapurna, Memorials to climbers who have perished trying to summit the Annapurna peaks.

There are only a handful of lodges at base camp. Most trekkers can make it to Annapurna base camp in 5 to 7 days taking a direct route.
At base camp you stand at 4130 meters above sea level.
Rooms are basic but people spend most of their time in the lodges common area and restaurant. A great way to meet travelers from all around the world.

And when your mountain viewing is complete the long journey back down begins....
